Last summer, I shared this recipe for my Banana Breakfast. I’m back now with a similar version, but with some high quality dark chocolate, which makes it a decadent treat, but still good for you! Dark chocolate has many health benefits, but just make sure you choose the right kind. Organic of course, fair-trade, little to no sugar (or a cane sugar alternative like maple syrup, coconut sugar, etc.), minimally-processed, ideally stone-ground so that it retains all of its benefits, and you can even find raw chocolate, which means that it hasn’t been heated over 119F, so none of the enzymes and nutrients got cooked. 😉
Very easy to make, the whole family will enjoy this treat. A nice alternative to pancakes, egg breakfasts, and cereal. This could also be a nice dessert option!
Enjoy!

Chocolate Banana Breakfast (one serving)
- 1 large organic and fair-trade banana, peeled
- 2 Tbsp organic raw almond butter
- 1 tsp organic raw hemp seeds
- 2 Tbsp organic raw walnut pieces
- 1 square organic and fair-trade dark chocolate of your choice, cut into thin pieces
Simply put the banana on a plate, drizzle a generous amount of almond butter on top and sprinkle the hemp seeds, walnuts and chocolate. Enjoy right away, or pack in a container for a snack later at work or school. 🙂
