A little something different today… How about starting the weekend with a delicious Chocolate Blueberry Smoothie for two? This is day 9 of my 14-Day Smoothie Challenge going on on my Facebook page. Wow, has this been a lot of fun, and it’s still not over yet!
So far, some of the new recipes included a delicious Apple Pie Smoothie, a Liver Cleanser, aka Liver Cleanser, and an Energizing Morning Smoothie that rocked my world with delicious mango and carrots! That’s right, don’t be afraid to add a vegetable or two to your morning smoothies!
In today’s recipe, I’m combining crazy delicious flavours: some raw chocolate powder and blueberries, which gives you a delicious smoothie packed with antioxidants!
Antioxidants
So, why are antioxidants so good for us? Well, because they help our body defend itself and prevent damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals can be produced in our bodies through various ways, from eating rancid oil to being exposed to pollution or radiation. All of these things create an oxidative effect on our cells, making them age prematurely and die.
Eating foods that are naturally rich in these beneficial substances should definitely be part of our daily eating habits, and what more delicious ways than this Chocolate blueberry Smoothie? Chocolate and blueberries are on that list, so let’s enjoy them! If you can, try to look for a raw cocoa powder, since this will provide you a maximum amount of antioxidants and minerals such as magnesium (which is good for muscles and heart health), and of course organic or wild/non-sprayed blueberries are a must to limit our exposure to toxic chemicals.
Bon appétit!

If you can’t find hazelnut butter (highly recommended), use almond butter. If you can, pre-soak your almonds for a few hours or overnight.

yum yum yum! Blueberries and cacao are one of my favourite smoothie combinations. I think if I were to make this I’d add a sneaky handful of spinach to the mix 😉

Hey! I agree! I’m just trying different varieties of smoothies during my 14-Day Smoothie Challenge on FB and don’t want to use spinach every day hehe 🙂 Smoothies are so awesome, aren’t they?!
